An Enrolled Agent holds a federal license issued through the U.S. Treasury that allows them to represent taxpayers in front of the IRS. We pull your IRS account transcripts, confirm which years are open and what's really owed after penalties and interest, and then look at your income, assets and monthly costs. From there the realistic options usually come down to an installment agreement, an Offer in Compromise, penalty abatement or Currently Not Collectible status. Which one fits depends on your numbers and on what the IRS will actually accept.

An installment agreement spreads what you owe into monthly payments instead of a single lump sum. The IRS looks at the size of the balance, whether all required returns are filed, and what you can reasonably pay each month. We gather the financial details, work out a payment you can actually keep up with, and handle the request so the agreement doesn't fall apart six months later because a new balance shows up.

The IRS offers First Time Abate relief for taxpayers with a clean recent history, and reasonable cause relief when something like a serious illness, a disaster or bad advice kept you from filing or paying. Neither is automatic. We check your history, decide which argument holds up, and write the request with the documents that back it.

Act quickly. Collect every IRS letter you've received, especially anything titled Final Notice of Intent to Levy, and don't wait for the next one. Once we have authorization on Form 2848, we contact the IRS, confirm the periods and amounts behind the levy, and push for a release through a payment arrangement, a hardship status or another available route.

We do. Missing returns usually have to be filed before the IRS will discuss most collection options. When the IRS has filed a substitute return for you, our own return often lowers the balance because it includes deductions and expenses the IRS estimate left out. We prepare those years carefully and file them in an order that supports the rest of your case.

The IRS calculates what it believes it could collect from your assets and future income, and an offer generally has to meet or beat that figure.
