State Tax Relief Programs and Tax Debt Assistance

Learn how state tax relief programs and tax debt assistance work, and where federal help fits in. Assured Financial Services provides IRS representation for individuals and businesses who need to size up a liability, catch up on unfiled returns, set up a payment plan or respond to collection pressure. An IRS Enrolled Agent leads the work personally and builds the plan around your actual finances and paperwork.

Our Tax Debt Assistance Services

State programs have their own rules. On the federal side, here's how we help people and businesses deal with what they owe the IRS.

Tax Debt Review

We gather your balances, penalties, interest and notices, confirm what's filed, and identify which relief options actually fit.

Payment Plans

Monthly installment arrangements based on your documented finances when paying the full balance right now isn't possible.

Offers in Compromise

We test eligibility, prepare the financial disclosure, file the offer and work with the IRS through its review.

Penalty Abatement

Requests for First Time Abate or reasonable cause relief, written to the criteria the IRS actually uses.

Unfiled Returns

Late returns prepared accurately and filed in an order that supports the overall resolution plan.

Innocent Spouse Relief

Help requesting relief from tax caused by a current or former spouse's errors or unreported income on a joint return.

Strategic Tax Resolution

Sorting Out What You Owe, and to Whom

People often come to us owing both a state and the IRS, unsure which program applies to which bill. State relief programs follow each state's own rules and are handled with that state's revenue department. Our work focuses on the federal side. We review your IRS balances, filing history, ability to pay and notices before suggesting anything, and then pursue the option that fits: catching up returns, a payment plan, penalty relief or an Offer in Compromise. No sweeping promises, just a documented plan you can follow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who qualifies for Pennsylvania's tax forgiveness program?

Pennsylvania's Special Tax Forgiveness reduces or wipes out state personal income tax for residents with low eligibility income, claimed on Schedule SP with the PA return. Whether you qualify depends on your eligibility income and how many dependents you have, and the income limits are set each tax year. It has nothing to do with federal IRS debt. Check the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue's current instructions before you file, because the numbers do change.
