You hand a defined part of your finance work to an outside team that runs it on a schedule: closing the books each month, reconciling accounts, producing reports, managing budgets and forecasts, and giving leadership someone senior to think through decisions with. For many established companies, especially those past about $5 million in revenue, that's more practical than hiring a controller, a staff accountant and a CFO separately.

A bookkeeper records what happened. Managed accounting makes sure it was recorded correctly and turns it into something you can act on: reconciled balance sheets, a consistent month end close, accruals that reflect reality, and reports that show margin by customer or contract. It's the difference between having data and trusting it.

Common triggers are a bank asking for projections, a big contract that will stretch working capital, margins slipping without a clear reason, or an owner who is still personally approving every expense. A fractional CFO gives you forecasting, pricing analysis and a sounding board for those moments, for a part of the cost of a full time executive, and can step back as things settle.

That's a large part of our work. We set up books that hold up under DCAA review, build and monitor indirect rates, keep unallowable costs separated, prepare incurred cost submissions, and work in Costpoint, Unanet or QuickBooks Online. Some of our staff hold active federal security clearances, which helps on sensitive programs.

At the least, a monthly profit and loss, balance sheet and a cash flow view. Most growing companies also benefit from budget versus actual, receivables aging, and a rolling 13 week cash forecast. Contractors usually add indirect rate tracking and margin by contract. We'd rather give you five pages you actually read than thirty you don't.

All work is done by our own staff in the U.S. We don't send files to offshore processors, access to your systems is limited to the people working on your account, and we treat employee and customer data with the care you'd expect from a firm that also serves cleared government contractors.

Yes. Many clients start with the monthly close and reporting, then add budgeting, controls or CFO time once the numbers are dependable. Others start with a CFO project, like a lender package or a pricing model, and bring us in for ongoing accounting afterward. Scope can go up or down as your needs change.

Yes. The founder is an IRS Enrolled Agent, so tax planning sits alongside the accounting rather than being bolted on at year end. If the business or its owners already have an IRS problem, such as a payroll tax balance, unfiled returns or an audit, we can handle the tax resolution work and represent you before the IRS.
